In 1953, Rene Thiebaud Sr had been in Canada for one year after emigrating from Switzerland , when he put his education in horticulture and design to use to open R. Thiebaud Landscaping. This would be later become Oshawa Garden Services and that name would in turn become a household name after decades of service in the Durham Region.

Oshawa Garden Services would become synonymous with any landscaping needs whether it was trees and plants or full landscape design and construction. During the 70’s and 80’s the company was also very well known for retail Garden Centres
In the early 90’s, there was a rebranding and OGS Landscape Group became the new name and look. His three sons all operated a different division under the new banner and that proved to be effective into the late 2000’s. A third generation entered into the businesses in the 1990s and they are involved today as manager and owners. Currently two divisions of the original OGS Landscape Group remain, which combines all of the previous services of the original three.
